Sports Therapy is the prevention and rehabilitation of injury and getting individuals back to their sports specific fitness level regardless of ability or level. Not just for athletes. We treat injuries whether they occurred in sport, at home, at work or any other environment.
Whether you have a diagnosis for the injury or not, we will have a discussion with you about the injury and have a look at the injured area. We may need to perform some diagnostic tests to help us establish what the problem is. We will then carry out some treatment specific to the injury, and provide you with some information on the injury to help you understand the injury and prevent it in the future.
Massage Therapy is often regarded as an extravagance, a luxury, it is rarely seen as an essential part of a training program. Massage should be seen as part of a healthy lifestyle and should be included in a training program, particularly those who are training frequently.
How massage can help take your training to the next level
I have a wide range of Massage clients from those seeking a bit of relaxation time to those who are recovering from injury and enjoy participating in fitness classes. My client base is increasingly consisting of power lifters and body builders.
Why........? What is it that massage does?
Regular massages improve range of motion, reduce recovery time, increase muscle tone and increase flexibility. More motion through your joints means more economical movement, which in turn leads to strength and gains. Struggle to hold a pose, uneven muscle growth or limited movement? Massage will enhance performance, maximize gains and reduce your risk of injury.
Benefits of Massage:
Improved recovery time after injury or training
Stretching of muscles (flexibility)
Breaking down of scar tissue
Improved tissue elasticity
Pain reduction
Relaxation
Acupuncture Through nerve and soft tissue stimulation acupuncture can have an analgesic effect and by needling trigger points, can release tension which if untreated, could lead to further injury The basic theory is that stimulation of the skin or muscle with an acupuncture needle sends a message to the brain via the spinal cord. This will then release endorphins and enkephalins (the body’s own painkillers) which relieves the pain.
Effects of Acupuncture:
What can you expect from a session?
If you have any of the following you will be unable to receive acupuncture:
If you are unsure whether your condition or medication (such as anti-coagulants) is compatible with Acupuncture, please check with your GP first.
Rocktape is a revolutionary new type of therapeutic tape that is great for treating common sports injuries or enhancing performance. It is a natural-hybrid product and uses no drugs
The adhesive is a strong hypo-allergenic acrylic based adhesive and contains no latex - so it stays in place and does it's job.
Unlike other products, Rocktape can be used both to apply compression to promote recovery, or decompression to relieve pain and swelling. It has a higher tensile strength than other kinesiology tapes; a superior tape that lasts for days.
The tape creates a "bio-mechanical lifting mechanism" which lifts the skin away from the soft tissue. This allows blood to move into an injured area which accelerates healing and recovery.
Rocktape can be used to treat:
Achilles Tendonitis | Plantar Fasciitis | Jumpers knee (PFS) | ACL/MCL issues | Rotator cuff | Groin & hamstring pulls | Lower back issues | Shin splints | Tennis & golf elbow
I also stock Rocktape for sale
